On 26th September, a plane carrying imported goods, such as consoles and phone cases, took off from Frankfurt, Germany, and safely arrived at Ezhou Huahu Airport. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone for the airport, as it has now successfully managed over 20,000 tons of import and export cargo.
Since the launch of the first international cargo route at Ezhou Huahu Airport on 1st April, Ezhou Customs, a subsidiary of Wuhan Customs, it has been diligently overseeing and clearing over 20,000 tons of import and export cargo in just over five months. The exceptional advantages of Ezhou Huahu Airport, as the fourth global and first Asian professional cargo hub airport, are becoming more evident as its regional consolidation and influence continue to fuel impressive growth. It merely took four months to reach the milestone of 10,000 tons of import and export cargo, and less than two months to surpass the impressive 20,000-ton mark. These numbers represent a notable rise in trade volume and a substantial increase in customs workload. "We persistently enhance technological empowerment, innovate regulatory models, implement a 24/7 customs clearance guarantee system, and uphold the principle of 'one declaration, one inspection, and one release," said Hu Heng, Deputy Director of Ezhou Customs Comprehensive Business Department.
Ezhou Huahu Airport currently operates seven international routes and serves ten international destinations, establishing a comprehensive route network that covers the entire country, extends throughout Asia, and reaches Europe and America. The head of Ezhou SF International Cargo Station stated, “We are taking advantage of SF Airlines' transfer of 43 domestic routes to Ezhou Huahu Airport, with the strong backing of Ezhou customs, to promote air-to-air and direct transfers on the apron. We plan to construct designated supervision areas for imported fruits, fresh seafood, and other products in accordance with customs regulations. Once the designated supervision area construction is approved, we will speed up the rapid import transfer of specialty fresh products and expand the range of goods available.”
Xue Dong, Deputy Director of Ezhou Customs, stated, "In the future, we will optimise the direct transfer model on the apron, streamline the regulatory process, and provide excellent services to enhance the hub function of Ezhou Huahu Airport. We will also improve the multimodal transport system, contributing to the accelerated development of Ezhou Huahu Airport as a world-class international air cargo hub, serving the inland opening-up in the new era."
