Transportation plays a crucial role in the development of a metropolitan area. On 10th October, the construction site of the Yanhua Road (Huanhu Fourth Road-Airport South Road) Project was a buzz with activity as excavators worked tirelessly.

Situated on the western side of Ezhou Huahu Airport, Yanhua Road (Huanhu Fourth Road-Airport South Road) runs through the north and south of the Airport Economic Zone. It serves as the primary north-south traffic artery for the Airport Economic Zone and is a major road for the city. Spanning a total length of 3,663 metres, the road is designed for a speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour, with a planned width of 55 metres and three lanes in each direction. Currently, the first phase of the Yanhua Road (Edong Avenue-Wudu Avenue) is already open to traffic, and the second and third phases are expected to be fully operational by the end of October.

"This is no ordinary municipal road," stated Zhang Yajun, the chief engineer of Ezhou southern backbone road network connection project of Shanghai?Civil Engineering Group Co., Ltd. of CREC. "Traveling north from Yanhua Road, you'll be able to reach Huanggang City directly through the soon-to-be-built E'huang Yangtze River Bridge. Similarly, heading south through the planned extension of Yanhua Road, you'll have direct access to Huangshi City. Additionally, Yanhua Road connects seamlessly to the Airport South Road, providing convenient travel options for citizens in Ezhou, Huanggang, and Huangshi, especially for those needing to reach the airport."

"This year’s National Day was the first one that I've spent away from hometown," remarked Yan Tao, a construction worker from Yanji. "Being involved in this project has set a new record for me in terms of dedication and commitment."

The construction site where he is currently working is situated in Group 8 of Xinwan Village, Shawo Township, within the Airport Economic Zone, just two kilometers away from Huahu Airport. The challenging task of building Yanhua Road involved traversing mountains and ridges, with Xiaohuangshan being split in the process. Two rock-breaking machines diligently worked to break through the rocky layer of the ground, while seven excavators efficiently loaded the stones into transport vehicles.

In contrast to the high-altitude drops where there is an abundance of soil, Xiaohuangshan mainly consists of rocky terrain, posing a greater challenge for excavation works.

"We, at Shanghai?Civil Engineering Group Co., Ltd. of CREC, are committed to upholding our corporate spirit of 'Venture of Breakthrough, Pursuit of Excellence'," stated Cheng Guanghui, the project leader. "We will intensify our construction organisation efforts, prioritise project milestones, continuously surpass construction targets, and in the near future, it will only take 15 minutes to drive from the city to Huahu Airport. This will greatly enhance the convenience for citizens of Ezhou and Huanggang, and they will be able to access the Airport directly without the need for motorway travel."
