At 2:10 am on 25th October, an aircraft took off from Ezhou, Hubei Province, China, bound for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. On board were three exhibition items weighing a total of 1,800kg. These items are set to be showcased at Dubai Airshow 2023, representing a significant milestone as Ezhou Customs successfully implements the use of ATA Carnet as the first time.

The ATA Carnet is a customs document that is globally recognised and was established by the World Customs Organisation to facilitate the temporary import and export of goods. Often referred to as a “passport for goods clearance”, the ATA Carnet allows goods that are temporarily imported or exported to be eligible for tax-free entry and exit. Additionally, it exempts the holder from filling out domestic customs declaration documents. Therefore, the ATA Carnet offers significant advantages for those participating in international exhibitions and commercial sample placement, and plays a vital role in promoting economic, technological, tourism, and cultural development.

The ATA Carnet is valid for one year, allowing the covered goods to enter and exit the issuing country multiple times during this period. It is important for participating companies to ensure the accuracy of all information before proceeding with customs clearance. During the customs clearance process, they should actively declare the goods and verify that the customs officials have signed and stamped the Carnet. After the exhibition, they should follow the necessary procedures for the repeated entry and exit of goods and promptly submit the Carnet to the International Chamber of Commerce for verification.

"The customs clearance process for this exhibition was very smooth," said Fang Jiong, manager of JHJ International Transportation. "During the customs clearance process, Ezhou Customs arranged for a dedicated person to coordinate the entire process, and the ATA Carnet certification work was completed in just one day."

Li Wenjing, the head of Ezhou Customs, emphasised the commitment of their organisation to safeguarding the national gate and driving development. Taking advantage of the influence and appeal of Ezhou Huahu Airport as a prominent cargo hub airport, both globally and within Asia, they aim at enhancing the accessibility of ATA Carnet and provide customs support to the Belt and Road Initiative.
