The Wuhan-Yangxin Highway, also known as the "Wuyang Highway", officially opened on 16th November. This has reduced the travel time from Wuhan to Yangxin to just one hour and from Wuhan Optics Valley to Ezhou to only 20 minutes. In the future, the Wuyang Motorway will be linked to the planned Wuning Jiangxi - Yangxin Hubei (Hubei-Jiangxi border) Highway, accelerating the formation of a 3-hour high-speed transportation circle between Changsha, Wuhan, and Nanchang.

The Wuyang Motorway stretches over 126 kilometres, starting from the Phoenix Mountain interchange in Wuhan's East Lake High-Tech Development Zone, all the way to Heshantang (Jiangxi-Hubei border). Divided into sections for Wuhan, Ezhou, and Huangshi, the road boasts two to three lanes in each direction. The highway is designed with a speed limit of 100 kilometres per hour and fully elevated, and the mainline of Ezhou section extends 34.6 kilometres with three lanes in each direction.

The Wuyang Highway is a crucial project outlined in the "Plan for the Development of City Clusters in the Middle Yangtze Region" and the "13th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Highway and Waterway Transportation in Hubei Province". It is also a key component of the Ningde-Wuhan section of the national highway network. The full opening of the Wuyang Highway not only improves the road network in the southeast of the Wuhan metropolitan area, driving the development of the Wuhan-Ezhou-Huangshi urban agglomeration, but also provides the most convenient route between the "Central China Triangle" of Wuhan and Nanchang, promoting the coordinated and integrated development of city clusters in the middle Yangtze Region.
