The Wuhan-Huangshi Expressway, operational since February 1991, spans a total length of 70 kilometers, and the daily capacity is design for 25,000 vehicles. Recognized as "The first road of Hubei", it serves as a crucial artery for the Wuhan metropolitan area and the eastern part of Hubei for outbound travel.
With the official announcement of the Wuhan New City Planning earlier this year, the Honglianhu area, one of the eight areas of the Wuhan New City, has seen rapid growing opportunities. The increased traffic has resulted in an average daily traffic volume of 15,000 vehicles at the Miaoling Toll Station. In order to improve the travelling conditions, Huarong District decided to reconstruct the toll station and the entrances and exits of both directions of the interchange area, aiming at saving traffic time for vehicles and alleviating traffic pressure; meanwhile, the landscaping renovation were started for the entrances and exits of both directions of the interchange area, planting 299 more trees, including sequoia, cherry plum, wintersweet and Chinese pistache, covering a total area of 8,100 square meters.
