At 8:40 am on 1th January, a 767 cargo plane carrying goods such as LCD screens, clothing, and circuit boards flew from Ezhou to Delhi, India, marking the 1,000th international cargo flight from Huahu Airport.
On 1th April, 2023, Huahu Airport opened its first international freight route. Since then, the number has seen steady increase. Up to now, more than 4000 entry-exit crew members have been inspected at the airport, with over 1,000 inbound and outbound flights, and the international cargo throughput has exceeded 44,000 tons, far exceeding the requirements for the officially opened international cargo volume at the port.
As the world’s fourth and Asia’s first professional cargo hub airport, Huahu Airport, since its operation, has seen rapid growth in destinations and flights, resulting in a continuous increase in freight business. In the past one and a half years, the airport has opened a total of 55 domestic and international cargo routes, with a cargo throughput exceeding 200,000 tons. Its cargo flights reached the second in the country that was just after Shanghai Pudong Airport, in just seven months.
As Huahu Airport renowned for its fast delivery of goods, the construction of supporting projects at the airport has been proceeding in full swing. Especially since the second half of last year, Ezhou City has accelerated the construction of the ten major supporting projects, comprehensively improving the supporting service level and expanding the loading capacity of Huahu Airport. Currently, the project of the line connecting to the south gate of the airport has been completed and opened to traffic simultaneously with the main lane extending to the south of Yanhua Road, marking the Ezhou-Huanggang-Huangshi Expressway, which runs from north to south and links to Huahu Airport, has successfully open up.
In addition, to fully leverage the role of the airport as a platform for communicating with the outside world, Ezhou is actively constructing an international free trade airport. Currently, the main buildings in the airport’s international cargo area, including the bonded logistics center (Type B), public international cargo station, customs designated supervision site, have all been completed. The temporary opening of the airport’s aviation port has also been approved time and again, and its operation time has been extended to 30th June this year.
