Due to extreme weather conditions including heavy snowfall, strong winds, and cold waves, extensive snow and ice accumulation have occurred on Ezhou-Xianning Expressway, severely threatening the traffic safety. Yesterday, in response to an urgent request from the provincial highway management department of Hubei, the Municipal Comprehensive Law Enforcement Detachment of Transport of Ezhou City organized a team with 50 emergency response members and dispatched 19 forklifts to support snow clearing and de-icing on Ezhou-Xianning Expressway.

At 10 a.m. yesterday morning, 19 forklifts were lined up in three columns at the Changgang Station on Ezhou-Xianning Expressway, slowly advancing towards the snow-covered sections of the road to carry out road aid. You can see that the hard-packed snow was pushed aside by the forklift buckets, providing access for 50 emergency response team members to clear away the remaining snow on the road swiftly by shovels and snowplows. In less than half an hour, the snow accumulation at the entrance and exit ramps of Changgang Station was completely cleared. Subsequently, escorted by eight emergency support vehicles, the 19 forklifts proceeded to their designated sections to continue snow clearing and de-icing.

“According to the plan, today we will launch a concerted effort to clear ice and snow on six sections totaling nearly 20 kilometers on Ezhou-Xianning Expressway, including the Wusi Lake Grand Bridge, Liangzi to Jinniu East Mainline, Donggou Grand Bridge, Changgang Grand Bridge, and Nongchang Grand Bridge,” stated Tian Congbin, the Director of Safety and Information Department at the Municipal Comprehensive Law Enforcement Detachment of Transport of Ezhou City. “Wherever there are traffic bottlenecks, we’ll be ready to fight there. Our detachment is fully committed to promptly conducting snow removal operations to ensure that all main lanes of the city’s expressways are free of snow accumulation, in an aim to safeguard the public travel.”
