The Ezhou Huahu Airport, the country's first cargo-focused airport, has passed its acceptance review for opening up, the national officials announced on Monday.
"The Ezhou Huahu Airport has officially become an international airport after passing the acceptance review of the State Council, which marks the opening of a new channel connecting China with the world," said Wang Xiwei, Mayor of Ezhou City.
Positioned as a cargo-focused hub airport with extensive cargo traffic but little passenger traffic, the Ezhou Huahu Airport was put into operation in July 2022. So far, the airport has launched 62 cargo routes, and has handled more than 440,000 tons of freight and mail transport. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
