On May 8th, the Township Economy Research Center of Sichuan Saidi Research Institute of Industry and Information Technology (Group) of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has released a research report on “2024 Township Economy Top 100 in China, Top 500 in China, Top 100 in Central China, and Top 100 in West China”. Hubei has occupied 13 seats in the “2024 Township Economy of China’s Top 500 List”. Among them, Gedian Town ranked 86th in the list, while it ranked 5th in the Central China, ranked first in Hubei Province, thus making it the only town in Hubei Province to enter the rank of the China’s Top 100 towns. This is the fourth consecutive year that Gedian has been selected as one of the top 100 towns in China.
It is known that the report takes science, transparency, openness, objectivity and comprehensiveness as the basic principles, and takes more than 20,000 registered towns in China, except for municipalities directly under the Central Government and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions, as the object of research and evaluation. In addition to the four first-level indicators of economic strength, industrial capacity, consumption vitality and urban-rural synergy, and 17 secondary indicators such as the number of new service enterprises and the number of innovative enterprises, the evaluation also takes into account the number of listed enterprises in the township, institutions of higher learning, innovation and entrepreneurship carrier platforms at the provincial level and above, and honorary titles reflecting the economic and social development of the township and other supporting indicators.
In recent years, the economic and social development trend of Gedian Economic Development Zone has continued to improve, and has formed an industrial system based on optoelectronic information, biomedicine, new energy and new materials, high-end equipment manufacturing, and modern service-oriented industry. In 2023, the region’s GDP totaled 30.7 billion yuan, and there were about 4,000 registered enterprises in the region, including 228 large-scale enterprises and 33 specialized new enterprises at or above the provincial level. The output value of Industrial enterprises above designated size in the region exceeded 80 billion yuan.
