Hubei Provincial Library is now holding 10.06 million volumes of physical books and 918.2TB of digital resources, becoming the fourth public library in China with a total physical book collection exceeding 10 million volumes, the library said on August 15, 2023.
The library now has 9.1 million volumes of ordinary Chinese books, magazines and newspapers, 460,000 volumes of historical documents, 5,500 volumes of old local chronicles, and 20,000 volumes of new local chronicles.
Readers can also read nearly 500,000 volumes of foreign books, periodicals and newspapers in the library, including documents in English, French, German, Russian, Japanese and other languages.
In addition, the library has built 40 local characteristic databases, which compile scenic spots, special food, and travel maps of Hubei Province. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
