Hubei's imports and exports stood at 152.08 billion yuan in the first quarter of 2024, up 8.3 percent year on year, local customs said on April 19.
Of the total, exports posted 104.86 billion yuan, surging by 10.7 percent from the same period last year, while imports gained 3.4 percent to 47.22 billion yuan.
During the period, the number of foreign trade enterprises with import and export performance in Hubei exceeded 6,000, advancing 11.4 percent year on year.
Among them, the number of private enterprises reached 5,700. Private enterprises represented a year-on-year growth of 15.3 percent to 105.13 billion yuan, taking up a 69.1-percent share of the province's total during the same period.
Exports of mechanical and electrical products totaled 58.52 billion yuan, jumping by 33.4 percent year on year, while imports of consumer goods reached 4.21 billion yuan, soaring by more than 80 percent.
Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, registered a year-on-year increase of 10.3 percent to 80.67 billion yuan in foreign trade. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei）
