The Hubei Provincial Museum and the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco signed a memorandum of cooperation on Monday, to jointly organize an exhibition on Chinese lacquer at the Hubei Provincial Museum next year.
The two museums have enjoyed a good cooperative relationship. The exhibition, titled "Phoenix Kingdoms: The Last Splendor of China's Bronze Age," was held in the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco from April to July this year, showcasing more than 260 works from ancient Chinese Chu and Zeng kingdoms in the multistate Zhou Dynasty.
Jointly held by the two museums, it has been the largest exhibition of cultural property that China has ever organized in the United States in recent years. Many of the artifacts, including bronze ware, lacquer ware and jade ware, have never been exhibited outside China before. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
