More than 700 A-level tourist attractions in Hubei totally recorded over 18.84 million visits during the May Day holiday, which ended on May 5, marking a substantial increase from the same period last year, according to local tourism data.
Wuhan ranked among the nation's top 10 most popular destinations during the holiday, according to multiple travel platforms including Fliggy, Qunar and Tongcheng Travel.
Major scenic spots witnessed strong influx of tourists. The Hubei Provincial Museum received 148,200 visits, the Three Gorges Dam attracted 161,000, the Yellow Crane Tower welcomed 208,800, the Wudang Mountain hosted 492,500, and Shennongjia recorded 201,000.
Sports-tourism integration emerged as a highlight during the holiday, leveraging the 2026 Hubei Football City League. Many host cities offered joint tickets combining matches and scenic spots, effectively boosting local tourism.
Flower-viewing tourism thrived. Destinations such as the Guifeng Mountain in Macheng and the Wuhan Metropolitan Area Flower Exhibition drew large crowds.
